Position Title: Vice President, Finance and Administration

Job Description:

Southern Regional Area Health Education Center (SR-AHEC) in Fayetteville, NC, seeks a Vice President of Finance and Administration. The person filling this position will support and advance SR-AHEC’s mission by leading and implementing SR-AHEC’s financial, administrative, and operational strategy. Responsible for providing leadership and overall management direction of activities related to finance, administration, and facilities operations.

All Southern Regional AHEC employees must be vaccinated unless approved for medical/disability or religious exemption as determined by SR-AHEC consistent with applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads and directs all finance and accounting and facilities/safety team members as a member of SR-AHEC’s Senior Leadership Team.
  • Serves as the organization’s Chief Financial Officer.
  • Strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance.
  • Provides timely and accurate analyses and financial reporting to ensure the highest level of financial oversight.
  • Provides financial reporting to management, CEO, Board of Trustees and NC-AHEC programs.
  • Leads and manages the budget and financial forecasting processes, as well as institutes and maintains systems of internal controls, including evaluation and implementation of financial policies, procedures and standards designed to preserve organizational assets.
  • Works with insurance agent to coordination the acquisition of adequate liability coverage at reasonable cost.
  • Provides consultation, education, and support to clinical managers regarding financial and or/contractual issues.
  • Ensures compliance with all legal and required reporting deadlines for taxes, employee benefits, grants, and contracts.
  • Through supervision of the organization's Compliance Officer, ensures adherence to Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Ensures that proper patient processing and billing functions are carried out effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory billing requirements, to include insuring effective collection of insurance and patient receivables.
  • Interprets statistical and accounting information to assess operating results in terms of performance against budget, cash flow projections, long-term sustainability, and the operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Through supervision of a facilities/safety manager, oversees SR-AHEC facilities to ensure cleanliness, functionality and safety of all properties, and compliance with all mandated safety requirements.
  • Serves on Retirement Plan Committee to ensure fiduciary compliance, reviewing costs and performance of SR-AHEC’s 401(k) and 403 (b) retirement plans.

Education/Requirements:

  • Position requires a graduate level degree in Business, Finance and/or Accounting. Minimum of five (5) years accounting or financial management experience performing similar functions, preferably in a non-profit or healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of non-profit corporate administration and financial operations necessary.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to the administration and financial management of a non-profit organizational and physician practice preferred.
  • Must possess skills in analyzing financial statements and preparing appropriate reports.
  • Must possess strong leadership, negotiation, communication, problem solving, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office environment and accounting software.
  • Experience in successful strategic planning and execution; effective presentation of information and ideas to executive team and Board of Trustees.
  • Track record of building and coaching strong, productive teams in a collaborative environment.
